As a pilot studie we were invited by the government of São Tomé en Principe to research the possibility for dental aid on the island. The department of health showed us the hospital and small clinics across the island.
Only two dentist are working on the island, one in the hospital and one in a private clinic. Especially in the areas of Porto Allegre and Santa Catarina there is no dental aid unless they travel far.
From our pilot study we conclude that a large part of dental support is needed as in dental hygiene and dental treatment.
The best way to help the dental aid is by treating patients on location cause transportation is pore.
